File:Nadi Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple.jpg[edit]
Hi King of Hearts. Would you mind taking a look at File:Nadi Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple.jpg? It was uploaded as "own work" and has what looks to be OK EXIF data; however, I found it being used online here and attributed to someone other than Commons and also possibly claiming the photo was taken in 2011. Of course, the website could be incorrectly attributing the photo, but the uploader's user talk page is filled with image related notifications. Anyway, I was just hoping for another opinion on the whether this is OK for Commons before starting a DR given that the file is being used by a number of different projects. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:10, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: 2011 is part of a Reddit username (Lepke2011), not the year. The Reddit post is from 10 January 2023, which postdates the Commons upload on 6 November 2019. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 17:44, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

File:PV MariaMcN 12.jpg[edit]
Hi again King of Hearts. Do you think it's OK to assume good faith with respect to File:PV MariaMcN 12.jpg? The file has some pretty detailed EXIF data that give a specific person as its copyright holder, but it's not clear the uploader is the same person. The uploader seems to have only edit Commons and Wikipedia for a bit in September 2023; so, I'm not sure they'll respond if asked about this. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:47, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
- My general approach for dealing with an account whose sole upload is a single high-res photo with EXIF: If it looks professional (e.g. DSLR headshot with a professional lighting, architectural photo of a building that tourists are unlikely to visit, name in EXIF that doesn't match username) then tag "no permission" because in most of these cases the uploader is not the photographer; however, merely reiterating the claim that they took the photo is enough for me to COM:AGF and accept the claim at faith value, since they have already provided all the hard evidence we typically use to assess authorship. Anything else, I would just COM:AGF right off the bat and leave it alone. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 16:19, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
